WASHINGTON (January 12, 2016) – The following is a statement by Adrianna Quintero, director of Voces Verdes, on President Obama’s State-of-the-Union address.

“In his last State of the Union address, President Obama proudly highlighted the progress made during his administration on climate change, and rightly so. President Obama’s leadership on climate and clean energy brought us the first ever limits on carbon pollution and a global agreement to tackle the climate crisis.

Investment in clean energy is yielding impressive results; saving Americans tens of millions of dollars a year on their energy bills, and creating good jobs here at home. As President Obama highlighted, we must now invest in our future and put money back into the most affected communities.

For Latinos who have supported President Obama’s climate policies and are often most impacted, this progress is welcome. We stand ready to work with Obama this year to ensure that we leave our children and grandchildren, the future they deserve.”
