WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 27, 2015) — GreenLatinos welcomes EPA’s final Clean Water rule. Mark Magaña, President & CEO of GreenLatinos issued the following statement:

“Latino families across the nation swim, fish, drink and recreate in their cherished community waterways throughout this country. With many of these waterways under constant threat of pollution and degradation, particularly in socioeconomically disadvantaged and minority communities, we are thankful that EPA has taken the necessary and important step of finalizing a rule clarifying the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act.  This science-based rule will provide certainty for Latino families that their cherished water sources are safe and protected.  GreenLatinos applauds EPA for taking this important step to protect our nation’s waterways, and encourages Congress to join with President Obama in support of the final Clean Water rule to ensure that important Clean Water Act protections are restored and enforced.”

GreenLatinos is a national coalition of Latino environmental and conservation advocates. We are advocates for the protection and conservation of our living environment. We provide a meeting place and sounding board for Latinos working on environmental projects and policy, to educate, share, and support the work of their fellow members.
