Washington, DC - September 17, 2014 – Adrianna Quintero, founder and Director of Voces Verdes, issued the following statement today in response to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) announcement on its new president:

“Voces Verdes welcomes Rhea Suh, as the new president, of the Natural Resources Defense Council.  As the daughter of Korean immigrants, Rhea comes to the NRDC with a unique understanding of the importance of diversity in the environmental community and we are looking forward to working with her.  Ms. Suh is an extremely well qualified professional in the environmental world.  Her visionary work implementing the diversity initiative at the Department of Interior led to the creation of a Chief Diversity Officer, staff trainings, and diversity champions.

Rhea recognizes the strength that comes from diversity. As president she will surely bring her vision to bear helping to strengthen and pioneer engagement efforts with diverse constituencies and working to ensure that NRDC and the environmental movement better reflects the face of our country today. We look forward to working with her.”
