Latinos have a long and proud history of speaking out and organizing against land uses that harm our communities such as incinerators, landfills, and other industrial sites.  We, at Voces Verdes, are proud to highlight these voices and continue our work to ensure that Latinos are well represented in the leadership and policy circles that shape our national strategy to fight climate change. Our own board member, Maria Cardona, was a featured speaker at the Forward on Climate Rally last February 2013 at the national mall.  She firmly stated why fighting climate change is of critical importance for Latinos in the US and that a strong majority of Latinos supports action to limit carbon pollution.
