We congratulate Governor McAuliffe on taking a stand and putting Virginia on course towards a “New Virginia Economy” based in clean renewable energy. Not only is this the right move, it stands in stark contrast to the dangerous and regressive actions by the Trump administration to undo protections from climate change and set our country back on clean energy.

Latinos in Virginia can now look to their home state to lead the fast-growing jobs in the clean energy economy which now outpace jobs in the fossil fuel electricity sector. Governor McAuliffe is also blazing a trail as the first governor to act to limit carbon pollution from power plants since Trump was elected. Our community thanks Governor McAuliffe and encourages other state governments to follow Virginia’s lead.
